My REUS

Reus is a town in Spain I used to call home.

Reus is the capital of the comarca of Baix Camp, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain.
Reus is the main comercial centre of the Costa Dorada, popular spanish tourism area. The main comercical streets are carrer Monterols y carrer Llovera.

Recently Reus Airport has started to receive low cost flights from Ryanair and Flybe who fly to Reus from five different European locations. From Reus Airport you can easily reach both the resort town of Salou and one of Europe's biggest theme parks at Port Aventura.

Reus is a town of modernism and is famous for to be a birthplace of such people like painter Marià Fortuny and architect Antoni Gaudí.

Plaza Mercadal - the square of the townhouse of Reus (the building with the clock) where I got married :) Here take places all the fiestas of Reus.

Human tower - A castell- traditionally built during festivals in many places in Catalonia, Spain. At these festivals, several colles castelleres (teams) meet and try to build the most impressive towers they can.

Casa Navàs

Plaça del Mercadal, 5 1901-1907 Lluís Domènech i Montaner

This and the Institut Pere Mata are the finest pieces of architecture in the town. The house was commissioned by the Reus merchant Joaquim Navàs. The different decorative and architectural elements of the fine façade are inspired by gothic and plateresque styles. This interior of the house still preserves all its ornamental richness, with the cabinet work of Gaspar Homar being particularly outstanding. The shop on the ground floor is highly interesting, as it has been preserved almost intact since it was built.

Another modernist building in Reus - CASA RULL

Carrer de Sant Joan, 27
1900
Lluís Domènech i Montaner

The angle formed by the two façades is the most important feature, visually, of the house. On the first floor, of note is the elegant balcony with balustrades in a floral design which continue towards the side façade.

On the upper floor, the ornamental work is of interest, with windows of gothic inspiration, the crest of the owner Pere Rull (PR) and the embattlements which crown the building. It is currently the premises of the municipal cultural action institute (IMAC).

CASA MUNNÉ
Raval de Martí Folguera, 2
1904 Pere Caselles

Its characteristic feature is the bay window on the corner, polygonal in plan and with a glass and iron structure which rises out of a column with a floral capital, as well as the interesting decorative work on the top, which combines geometric and floral elements.
